Seaton Tramway

Seaton Tramway operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon’s glorious Axe Valley, travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves and giving an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life.

Beer – The Fine Foundation Heritage Centre

Come to the Fine Foundation Heritage Centre Beer to discover the story of the local geology, from the pebbles on the beach to the famous Beer Stone, used in buildings all over the country… and even for experiments in space. There are tanks full of marine life as well as stories about the local community. The centre is run by local volunteers.

Spy Way

More than 140 million years ago, dinosaurs gathered by the shores of a shallow lagoon. Incredibly, the tracks they left behind are still there today.

More than 100 fossilised tracks are preserved in a flat layer of rock at Keates Quarry (accessed from Spyway car park) one of the places where south Purbeck’s tradition of stone production continues.
